Judiciary Bill for Scotland

The Scottish Executive has published "Proposals for a Judiciary (Scotland) Bill".

This Bill is taking forward the ideas discussed in the consultation paper "Strengthening Judicial Independence in a Modern Scotland" which was published in 2006 - see my response further down the blog.

Whilst the first consultation paper was shelved by Jack McConnell, and is not being repeated by the new proposed Bill, the Scottish Executive are again seeking comments and they would appreciate views by 14 May 2007. I will, of course, have a look at this document and if I put in a response will publish it. It's a great opportunity to ensure the Judiciary are progressively working for you in the 21st Century, please participate if at all possible.
